TRANSIT Special Panel

The TRANSIT Special Panel discussion is on ‘Reskilling and Upskilling for Renewables Deployment‘, chaired by Prof. Araceli Hernandez Bayo partner of TRANSIT project from The Plythecnic University of Madrid, Spain.

TRANSIT (TRANSITion to sustainable future through training and education) is a project funded by the European Union under the program Horizon Europe that aims to provide sustainable training and re-skilling programmes for current and future generations on a multidisciplinary approach in renewable energy.

 In achieving this, TRANSIT seeks to enable the societal changes that will encompass the high ambitions of deployment and transformation of the energy sector in the next decades through the design and delivering of an overall educational, retraining and social engagement programme covering different sectoral strategies and stakeholders.

Dr Araceli Hernández is an associate professor at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) in the area of Electrical Engineering. In TRANSIT project, she is the PI of the WP Communication, Exploitation and Dissemination.

 

Dr Inġ. Brian Azzopardi
The Foundation for Innovation and Research – Malta (Coordinator)

Dr Inġ. Brian Azzopardi is Senior Lecturer II at Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST), co-founder and chairman of The Foundation for Innovation and Research – Malta (FiR.mt) and Visiting Senior Lecturer at the University of Malta (UM). Since 2011, he has held senior academic and associate professorship positions in the UK, Lithuania, and Malta. He also served several businesses, the government, research centres and the Court of Malta. He is the Coordinator of the Horizon 2020 / Horizon Europe projects JUMP2Excel, NEEMO, TRANSIT, and PROMISE. He has contributed over €10M to associated institutions on projects with over €30M budgets. He is senior Member of IEEE, IET, EI, RSC, and Chamber of Engineers.

Mr Zoran Markovic

Zoran Markovic began his career as a system and telecommunications engineer at the chamber, where he created and managed the IT system. He wrote several publications on IT security and the book Project cycle management manual. In the last 20 years, he’s prepared and implemented over 15 projects for RCC Nis and CCIS. He also prepared, implemented, and evaluated project management, strategic project management, tender procedures, electronic business, and electronic banking trainings.He prepared project budgets, tender procedures, and project evaluations. Mr Simonas Mockevicius

Simonas is the manager of Business-University initiative „Partners 4 Value“. The Consortium established between the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists (LPK) and the leading Lithuanian universities (Vilnius University, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Kaunas University of Technology, Vytautas Magnus University and Klaipeda University) established at national level in Lithuania aiming to expand “real life” training opportunities for students and university personnel through Business-International Organisations-University partnerships. This will contribute towards improving young people employment readiness, job prospects in local and international markets and increasing Lithuanians representation in EU, intergovernmental organisations and international business structures. In addition, Simonas coordinates the LIFE Integrated project “Improving energy efficiency in Lithuania“ and is responsible for the Action  “Improving energy efficiency in enterprises“

Fabiano Pallonetto is a Professor in Management Information Systems at Maynooth University. He has a vast experience in the energy, IT and transport sectors working as an entrepreneur, data scientist and researcher across different industries and disciplines. His academic background in Computer Science and Engineering and his industry experience in Energy, Sustainable Mobility, Data Analytics, Control Algorithms and Optimisation make him a key asset for research-based and commercial data-centric projects 

Dr Vytautas Siozinys
Energy Advice, Lithuania

Vytautas Šiožinys – CEO and founder of Energy Advice, Former Head of System Planning and research division at Litgrid (Lithuania transmission system operator), Former Associate Professor and Researcher at Kaunas University of Technology for more than ten years. For the last five years Vytautas is focused on developing real time Digital Twin Technology to increase technological and energy efficiency. He is in charge of the strategic direction while developing innovative EA-SAS Digital Twin platform.
